Oscarssons Bil in Mellerud buys, sells and trades classic American cars, principally 1955 to 1970 model years. The firm was established in 1981 by Jan Oscarsson and is still run by him with his brother Thomas, at the same address since the start — one of Sweden's oldest businesses of its kind, with more than 16,000 vehicles sold. The showroom is a destination in its own right: Mellerud has become a regional centre for American cars, and together with AS Cars and Dals Bil the town draws tourists who make a detour to see what is in stock. The company buys cars outright and also takes consignment work for anyone wanting to sell a classic. The business is purely trading — the sources give no indication of an in-house service workshop. Closed for the summer break from week 29.
