Description

Hamnens Bilskrot is on Lodgatan in Malmö's harbour district and has been scrapping cars since 2006. It takes cars, light commercials, 4WDs and SUVs regardless of make, model, age or condition — including vehicles damaged in accidents or flooding, cars beyond repair and cars that have failed their roadworthiness test. Collection is offered in Malmö, Lund, Vellinge, Trelleborg and the rest of Skåne. Payment for a scrap car typically runs between 1,000 and 2,500 kronor according to an industry comparison, and the company gives a fixed time and an agreed price before collection — which customers single out as what makes the process feel secure. On dismantling, the battery and wheels are removed and stored for recycling; wheels fit for reuse are sold on and the rest are fully material-recycled. Hazardous fluids such as oils, fuels and glycol are drained and held before being taken on by external processors including Stena Recycling.
