Description

Skrotfrag in Gislaved is at Verkstadsgatan 1 in the Henja industrial area and takes iron, scrap metal, cars and lead batteries from businesses, industry and private individuals. The site is an authorised vehicle scrapper: the car is drained of hazardous fluids, dismantled and deregistered with the transport agency against a certificate of destruction — something only sites approved by the county administrative board may do. The owner needs to bring registration document part 2. Material is weighed on site and the customer is paid for it. The operation works closely with the manufacturing industry in the area, setting up container arrangements for companies that need waste removed continuously without halting production, and states an aim of teaching customers to sort correctly from the outset. Skrotfrag is a family firm founded in 1972 and one of Sweden's leading operators in iron and metal recycling, with three production plants at Oskarshamn, Agnesberg and Sjövik plus branches across 26 locations in southern and central Sweden. The company describes its Sjövik plant as among the top two in Europe, capable of separating out 98 per cent of a scrapped car.
